Conservative Scholar Applauds Getting Jefferson Right

Contact: Warren Throckmorton, 724-967-5644

GROVE CITY, Penn., Aug. 14, 2012 /Christian Newswire/ -- Last week, Thomas Nelson publishers ceased publication and distribution of "The Jefferson Lies" by David Barton. Another book which examines some of the same claims as "The Jefferson Lies" has received a prominent endorsement from conservative Christian scholar, Charles Dunn. Dunn is Distinguish Professor of Government, and former Dean of the Robertson School of Government at Regent University. This week, Dunn endorsed "Getting Jefferson Right: Fact Checking Claims about Our Third President," saying:

"'Getting Jefferson Right' by Warren Throckmorton and Michael Coulter stands up for truth in scholarship against the prevarications in David Barton's 'The Jefferson's Lies.' Because of the courage of Throckmorton and Coulter, Barton has now fallen from his pedestal of preeminence as a scholar of the early American era. Throckmorton and Coulter deserve the 'Medal of Honor' for courage and probity."

"It is humbling to have an endorsement from a Christian scholar of Chuck's caliber," Warren Throckmorton said. "Getting Jefferson Right" examines claims about Thomas Jefferson and his views of slavery, race, the Bible, religion and the education. "We find that many claims about Thomas Jefferson made by people in our own Christian community are not based in fact. Christian scholars seek first the facts," added co-author Michael Coulter.

Dunn is the author and/or editor of 20 books on American politics, including The Seven Laws of Presidential Leadership and American Culture in Peril.

Getting Jefferson Right is available on Amazon.com and coming soon to book stores.
