Family Institute of Connecticut to Hold Press Conference in Opposition to Same-Sex 'Marriage' Bill

Contact: Brian S. Brown, Family Institute of Connecticut Action, President, 860-548-0066

HARTFORD, Conn., Mar. 22 /Christian Newswire/ -- The Family Institute of Connecticut will hold a Protect Marriage press conference in room 1B of the Legislative Office Building on Monday, March 26 at 11:00 a.m. to oppose the same-sex "marriage" bill, H.B. 7395.

FIC executive director Brian S. Brown will be joined by Maggie Gallagher, president of the Institute for Marriage and Public Policy and Dawn Stefanowicz, an author and spokesperson who was raised in a same-sex household. Following the press conference these speakers will offer public hearing testimony laying out the case for why protecting the traditional definition of marriage is in the best interests of children and of society.

FIC executive director Brian S. Brown stated, "Same-sex 'marriage' would not give same-sex couples a single new right they do not already have. It is now obvious that our opponents' real goal is to impose a redefinition of marriage and the family on an unwilling public.

"The people of Connecticut clearly oppose same-sex 'marriage' legislation and Gov. Rell has said she will veto it. But activists working against the public interest continue to waste our legislators' time with this issue. This issue must be resolved by the people, not the politicians or the courts. Our legislators should vote against this unpopular effort to change society's definition of marriage."
