COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo., April 21 /Christian Newswire/ -- The National Day of Prayer will once again be represented at Talladega (Ala.) Superspeedway. Furniture Row's No. 78 National Day of Prayer Chevrolet will be competing in the Aaron's 499 NASCAR Sprint Cup race on April 26 at the 2.66-mile oval.

This is the fourth year Furniture Row has sponsored a National Day of Prayer (NDP) car in the NASCAR race at Talladega. Last year, the NDP car and driver Joe Nemechek qualified on the pole, leaving this year's driver, Regan Smith, with some big shoes to fill.

"This is a fun and exciting way to promote the National Day of Prayer -- we are blessed to have the support of Furniture Row Racing team and last year's Rookie of the Year in Regan Smith," said Brian Toon, Vice-Chairman for the National Day of Prayer Task Force. "This event enables us to draw attention, to the National Day of Prayer, as a special day set aside for our nation to join together and pray."

Now in its' 58th year, Millions of Americans will participate in the National Day of Prayer on May 7, 2009. Tens of thousands of prayer gatherings were held throughout the country last year, including prayer observances in 110 federal prisons, YMCAs, national monuments, Indian reservations, military bases, stadiums, nursing homes, airliners crossing our nation, schools, town halls, in the Senate and Congressional chambers of many state capitols, and overseas in Afghanistan and Iraq.

The National Day of Prayer Task Force is the Judeo-Christian expression of the National Day of Prayer. Our mission is to communicate with every individual the need for personal repentance and prayer, mobilizing the Christian community to intercede for America and its leadership in the seven centers of power: Government, Military, Media, Business, Education, Church and Family.
