Family Institute of Connecticut to Hold 20th Anniversary Celebration Banquet on Wednesday, December 2nd

Contact: Peter Wolfgang, Executive Director, Family Institute of Connecticut, 860-548-0066

CROMWELL, Conn., Nov. 25 /Christian Newswire/ -- The Family Institute of Connecticut (FIC), the state's largest and best known pro-life, pro-marriage and family organization, will hold a banquet to celebrate the 20th anniversary of its founding on Wednesday, December 2nd at 6:15 p.m. at the Crowne Plaza Hotel in Cromwell. The keynote speaker will be Austin Ruse, head of the Catholic Family and Human Rights Institute, the leading pro-life NGO at the United Nations.

FIC executive director Peter Wolfgang stated, "The sanctity of human life, the fight for traditional marriage and the protection of religious liberty are all prominent causes in our state thanks to the 20 year existence of The Family Institute of Connecticut. From halting the Bridgeport Casino Initiative in the 90's to stopping same-sex "marriage" at our state legislature in the 2000's--and saving religious liberty after it was imposed by the court--FIC has become the leading voice for faith and family in our state. Our multicultural and interdenominational coalition has rallied thousands to the state Capitol on three separate occasions, organized the largest petition drive in state history and distributed a quarter of a million voter guides. They told us these pro-family accomplishments would never happen in Connecticut--but FIC did it. On December 2nd FIC will celebrate 20 years of confounding expectations, achieving victories and carrying on the fight for a more family-friendly Connecticut."

Over 300 guests are expected at FIC's 20th anniversary banquet, including prominent clergymen like First Cathedral's Archbishop Leroy Bailey and politicians like former House Speaker Jim Amann (D-Milford) and Senator Sam Caligiuri (R-Waterbury). FIC will also be giving it's first-ever Stetson Award to a person who has demonstrated courage in the fight for faith and family in Connecticut this year. The Stetson Award is named for former FIC chairman and executive director Charlie Stetson.
