WAKE FOREST, NC, July 20, 2011 /Christian Newswire/ -- Church Initiative announces the release of the Korean translation of DivorceCare. DivorceCare is a support group and recovery program for people facing the pain of separation and divorce. Currently found in thousands of English-speaking churches worldwide, DivorceCare is eager to bring the valuable teaching and help tools to the Korean-speaking population who are struggling with a broken marriage.

Pastor Byung Dal Kum, and his wife, Jung Jin, of California have been instrumental in the translation of the DivorceCare materials from English into Korean. They have put their time and energy into the project, believing this curriculum can change the lives of Koreans going through separation or divorce.

"Koreans have a high divorce rate, which means there is a great need for this ministry," Jung Jin Kum said. "Korean churches have an enormous ministry to help out those people who are going through divorce. However, this type of ministry is not easy without proper ministry tools."

DivorceCare is a 13-week, video-based curriculum hosted by churches and facilitated by trained lay leaders.

Suzie Jung had been divorced for more than 20 years before participating in DivorceCare, but she still found needed encouragement and support.

"It helped me understand the process of divorce and recover from depression and shame," she said. "This is the ministry tool I will use to help those going through separation or divorce."

The DivorceCare curriculum is designed with three primary components: video, group discussion and between-session workbook exercises (to help group members apply the material in the days between sessions). The videos are produced in an interesting-to-watch television magazine format with dramatizations. They also feature more than 30 divorce recovery experts, including Dr. Tony Evans, Kay Arthur, Dr. Archibald Hart, Dr. Linda Mintle and H. Norman Wright.

Church Initiative launched DivorceCare in 1994 and since has sold more than 13,000 curriculum sets to churches around the world. More than 700,000 people have participated in the group series.
