Contact: Caleb Cash, 864-640-5816

ANDERSON, S.C., April 16, 2013 /Christian Newswire/ -- On Monday night, in front of an excited crowd of over 200 Republicans, Upstate businessman Richard Cash announced his campaign for the U.S. Senate. A resident of Anderson County, Cash was well received by the attendees of the Anderson County GOP Convention, a large number of whom showed their support by wearing lapel stickers and waving "Replace Lindsey!" signs. During the course of a five minute speech, Richard was interrupted repeatedly by applause. Richard, along with his wife Marcia and seven of their eight children, greeted guests as they passed out campaign fliers and bumper stickers.

"South Carolina needs representation in Washington that reflects their core values, and I do not believe Senator Graham is providing that," said Cash. "I am running for Senate because I believe that the same elements of our heritage that made America great are the best hope for our future. I believe that the Christian faith and family are the cornerstones of our society. I believe that our economy, the most powerful economy in the world, was created by free-market capitalism. And I believe that the Constitution, read according to the intent of the founders, is the greatest political document ever written...It is my hope to be a bold voice in Washington that calls for a return to the foundations that made America great."

Richard is a graduate of Furman University with a degree in Economics and Business Administration. He has worked professionally as a computer programmer and analyst, served full time as a pro-life missionary, and volunteered as a youth coach and athletic director. He is the founder and owner of two small businesses, which he has operated for the past 14 years. Richard and Marcia have been married for 28 years and are members of Christ Church, EPC. In 2010, Richard ran for US Congress in the third district. After winning the primary over a field of 6 candidates, he narrowly lost a runoff to Rep. Jeff Duncan.
