VIRGINIA BEACH, Va., Aug. 21, 2012 /Christian Newswire/ -- Challenging economic times breed insecurity as many suffer financial reversals, loss of their homes or unemployment. Single mothers without a safety net find financial pressures especially challenging. One single mother shares the story of learning to trust God for her daily provision after being abandoned with a newborn by her husband. When child support payments were not enough to meet her needs, Danette Joy Crawford learned to handle incoming bills as if they were not hers. Holding the bills in her hand, she'd look up and say to God, "You've got mail." She knew that God's Word promises abundant provision so held firm in faith until she received what she needed. Each month her bills were provided for.
Crawford shares the story of her faith journey in God, You've Got Mail: 15 Keys to Abundant Provision (Destiny Image Publishers). She says God's promises can be "unlocked" by the "little keys" of obedience, favor and faith. True experiences from her life combined with biblical principles give keys to abundant provision. She shares how to trust God as provider, how to hear His voice, why it is important to consult God about what to do with every dollar we get, how to handle extra money, and why prayer matters. Crawford advocates cultivating an attitude of gratitude in the midst of adverse circumstances, and even literally shouting at our doubts.
The keys to abundant provision have been well exercised in the Crawford's life. Before she was faced with financial hardship as a single mother, she learned to depend on God when she became a youth pastor at age nineteen, before becoming a traveling evangelist by age twenty-one. As she experienced that God was more than able to meet her needs, she began sharing the principles with others.
With a master's degree in counseling from Regent University, Crawford is founder and president of Joy Ministries. The ministry, which has adopted ten to twelve inner-city neighborhoods, and established kids' clubs, learning centers and summer reading camps, has become a big part of meeting needs in the lives of inner city residents. Her television program, "Joy in the Morning with Danette Crawford," reaches more than 165 million homes each week. In God, You've Got Mail Crawford shares from some of the darkest hours in her life as she learned to trust God and wait for His provision.
