MONTGOMERY, Sept. 14 /Christian Newswire/ -- Today Christian Coalition of Alabama officials launched into the 2006 voter education campaign season by unveiling their new name – Christian Action Alabama. This comes after the recent announcement that the Christian Coalition of Alabama was disaffiliating from the Christian Coalition of America. Alabama follows Iowa and Ohio state chapters in their separation from the national organization. Christian Action Alabama Chairman Bob Russell stated: “This announcement is a historical benchmark for our organization and the State of Alabama. It is most fitting for us to conduct this news conference on the steps of the Alabama Department of Archives and History.” Russell continued, “Our mission, goals, objectives, board of directors, officers and staff will all remain the same; we are enthusiastic about our continued success and the positive impact our organization will have on the State of Alabama.”

Christian Action Alabama President John Giles stated: “We have experienced only positive comments from our supporters and volunteers. We communicate with about 13,200 churches, work with 1,900 volunteers statewide and correspond with about 165,000 activists in-state.” The Christian Action Alabama organization will be contacting all candidates who met the deadline and filled out questionnaires for the former Christian Coalition of Alabama and advise them that the 2006 Voter Guides will display the new name. In addition, all questionnaires, pledges and previous voting records will be absorbed as documented assets and property of the new organization. This election year, 1.7 million 2006 Voter Guides will be printed mailed, and distributed by Christian Action Alabama volunteers before November 7th. Christian Action Alabama officials will also be educating voters on the 2007 Legislative Pledges that included a commitment to support 3 important legislative items.

“Our new name is perfect, we are about issues, action, networking and impacting public policy. We are fully energized to raise the torch even higher and continue our quest to educate voters so they can make informed decisions,” Giles concluded.
