Former Governor to Join LifeHouse in Celebrating 25 Years by Toasting To Life

HOUSTON, July 12, 2013 /Christian Newswire/ -- "Tonight, it's not so much that the eyes of Texas are upon you. It's that the eyes of America are on Texas," former Governor Mike Huckabee told a crowd of thousands of pro-life supporters dressed in blue gathered on the steps of the Capitol. Huckabee added, "Those are not radical requirements; those are reasonable requirements," referring to second house bill now under consideration in the Texas legislature.
Two big rallies were held at the Capitol on Monday night with thousands of people on both sides of the abortion issue. Meanwhile, the Senate Committee on Health and Human Services saw more than 3,800 people testify or register their position on the bill, according to committee Chairwoman Jane Nelson.
An abortion rights march left from the Capitol steps at 8 p.m. Monday. Abortion rights protestors dressed in orange marched past the governor's mansion to the state Capitol chanting "Whose choice? Our choice!"
The second house bill would restrict any abortions after 20 weeks of pregnancy. It is based on medical research that indicates that a fetus starts to feel pain at that point. A version of this bill has passed in 12 states. Both sides say it would likely cause most abortion clinics in Texas to close. If the bill becomes law then many women may be faced with an unwanted pregnancy. LifeHouse of Houston is one of many solutions for women who need a home, during and just after, giving birth.
