Contact: Kathy Carlton Willis, Kathy Carlton Willis Communications, 956-642-6319, WillisWay@aol.com

MEDIA ADVISORY, Oct. 29 /Christian Newswire/ -- More than one-third of all American workers say they have been bullied on the job -- many from their own bosses. Tory Johnson, workplace contributor for Good Morning America discussed "Toxic Boss Syndrome" in a recent show segment. She identifies several toxic boss types, as well as the remedies.

  • Toxic -- "The Screamer" Detox -- Walk Away

  • Toxic -- "The Demean-er" Detox -- Calmly Confront

  • Toxic -- "The Schemer" Detox -- Document Details

When employees can't afford to quit, they feel trapped. Ultimately, Johnson recommends having a Plan B in mind. Perhaps it’s time to start the job search, or to consider starting your own business.

Rosemary Flaaten, author of A Woman and Her Workplace (Beacon Hill Press of Kansas City) affirms Johnson's strategies for dealing with the toxic boss. Flaaten recommends implementing Johnson's action plans for a positive outcome.

Flaaten encourages Christians to take these strategies a step further. "As a follower of Jesus, we are called to live our lives, including the workplace, in such a way that we are a credit to the Message of Jesus. In other words, we are to respond to our toxic bosses the same way that Jesus would if He were in our situation. Offering grace and forgiveness breaks the stronghold of their toxicity in our lives. Love is always stronger than hatred. Then, ask God to bless them and pray that good will come to them. We can't change the toxic boss but we can control their effect on us by allowing God to work in our hearts and allow His love to flow through us to others."

A Woman and Her Workplace: Building Healthy Relationships from 9 to 5 shows how God can perform a deep heart transformation within us that will impact the way we relate to others. By delving into the relationship issues that wreak havoc on the job (such as bullying), Flaaten provides readers insights to develop strong biblical principles of humility, integrity, forgiveness, grace, and celebration where they work.

Flaaten's expertise in building healthy relationships was seen in her first book, entitled A Woman and Her Relationships. It won The Word Guild Award, which is Canada's top Christian literary honor. A dynamic speaker -- Flaaten challenges women of all professions to view their work as a calling and their workplaces as opportunities to live out Christ's love. Flaaten lives with her family in Calgary, Canada.
