LOS ANGELES, Sept. 22, 2015 /Christian Newswire/ -- The ground-breaking Christian film, "Christmas Stories" will start shooting this November.

The film focuses on ten true stories that happen on Christmas Eve. The film will be released in 1,000 theaters on November 16, 2016.

"The film really puts Christ back into Christmas," says Tim Chey, the director. "Each story tells how people came to Christ in extraordinary ways during Christmas Eve."

One of the stories involves the true story of a Colombian woman who on Christmas Eve was going to kill her husband by orders from Pablo Escobar. But that night, she heard a church singing 'Silent Night.' Drawn into the church, she gave her life to Christ and escaped from Escobar's men.

Chey uncovered the Columbian story as he traveled to over 30 countries for his 'Epic Journey' film. "We ran into countless incredible stories that took place during Christmas," says Chey. "I wanted to share these stories during the most wonderful time of the year."

The film is in the second round of financing through private investors.

"We're raising P&A (prints and advertising) for the film," adds Sarah Greene from RiverRain Studios. "It's our goal to have a wide theatrical release on at least 1,000 screens."

Chey's other films, "Freedom" (Cuba Gooding, Jr., Sharon Leal) on the early life of John Newton, writer of 'Amazing Grace,' "David and Goliath" (Miles Sloman), and "Final the Rapture" all reached over 55 million homes on Video on Demand (VOD) last week through Time-Warner, Charter, Comcast, iTunes, and other on-demand platforms.
