CINCINNATI, May 10 /Christian Newswire/ -- President Barack Obama today nominated Solicitor General, Elena Kagan, to the Supreme Court. If confirmed by the Senate, she will replace retiring Justice John Paul Stevens. Mr. Obama's pick would continue the pro-abortion judicial activism of our nation's highest court. The fifty-year-old nominee is considered young by judicial standards and would likely remain on the Court for years, able to inflict great injury on future generations of Americans. Ms. Kagan is a former clerk for Justice Thurgood Marshall, a former Dean of Harvard Law School and a past employee of the Clinton administration. However, she has no experience as a judge.

Ms. Kagan has a clear record on abortion. She has repeatedly criticized the Supreme Court ruling (Rust v. Sullivan--1991) that allowed Congress to prevent tax dollars from funding abortion. Ms. Kagan called this the subsidizing of "anti-abortion" speech. She also authored a memo as a law clerk stating that pro-life faith-based crisis pregnancy centers shouldn't counsel pregnant teens.

"Mr. Obama has once again made it clear that he strictly follows a pro-abortion litmus test for anyone he nominates to the Supreme Court," said Bradley Mattes, executive director of Life Issues Institute. "We should not be surprised that his legacy will be the intentional killing of our nation's most vulnerable citizens--unborn babies. This nomination is a tragedy for America's women and their unborn children."
