LONDON, Jan. 7, 2016 /Christian Newswire/ -- The London School of Theology (LST) is very pleased to announce the appointment of Professor Graham Twelftree to the role of Academic Dean.

Dr. Twelftree is currently the Charles L. Holman Professor of New Testament and Early Christianity at Regent University, Virginia Beach. He brings a wealth of academic and pastoral experience, having previously worked at All Souls Church, Langham Place, London, and as a Vineyard Pastor in Australia. He was educated at the universities of Adelaide, Oxford and Nottingham.

Krish Kandiah, President of LST welcomed the appointment:

"This is an exciting and bold appointment for LST. Dr. Twelftree brings further distinguished academic New Testament theological thought and leadership to the largest interdenominational evangelical theological college in Europe. Graham will take up a key position in the leadership of LST, bring new PhD study options for students and add to the dynamic learning environment here in London."

Dr. Twelftree said:

"LST is one of the world's great theological institutions with a long and respected reputation. I feel immensely privileged to have the opportunity to be part of this remarkable institution at a time that is both exciting and challenging for theological education. I look forward to continuing research, working with students and joining the leadership team of LST."

Dr. Jason Clark, LST Alumnus, Senior Pastor of Sutton Vineyard Church, and London Area leader for Vineyard Churches UK and Ireland said:

"So thrilled to hear of the appointment of Graham. I have had the privilege of hearing Graham speak both from his pastoral experience and his academic perspective. He brings an outstanding academic ability into contact with a care and love of the church. It will be exciting to see all that he brings to LST."

Dr. Twelftree is expecting to begin early in 2016, and will replace LST's Dr. Marvin Oxenham who will continue to lead LST's MA in Theological Education which has a world-wide cohort.

In his spare time Dr. Twelftree enjoys classical music, reading and travelling with his wife. He feels called to be more like Jesus in his family, as a student of the New Testament and as a member of the faculty. Dr. Twelftree longs to see students pursue academic integrity, spiritual vitality, and to be able to do the works of Jesus.
