PORT ST LUCIE, Fla., Oct. 25, 2012 /Christian Newswire/ -- FL's proposed Amendment 6 is billed by several prolife organizations and legislators as prohibiting tax funding of abortion. In reality, it would allow tax funding of abortion in the cases of rape, incest, the life or health of the mother, and will NOT prohibit a single dime from funding abortions that aren't already prohibited by state statute. Moreover, Amendment 6 implies that the US and FL constitutions include a "right" to abortion. While Personhood FL and Personhood FL ProLife PAC enjoy working with the prolife organizations and legislators that support this amendment, we oppose Amendment 6 and ask FL voters to vote no on 6.

We realize that rape is a violent act that no woman should ever have to go through. We believe that those who commit rape and incest should be punished to the fullest extent of the law, but we oppose executing a child for the crimes of her father and forcing taxpayers to pay for abortions based on the manner in which a child was conceived. When we allow for exceptions, we weaken the prolife argument and thus prolong the killing of innocent children in the womb.

Additionally, Amendment 6 will NOT prohibit any tax funding of abortion that is not already prohibited in current FL law. Since FL already prohibits tax funding of abortions except in the cases of rape, incest, or life of the mother, Amendment 6 will NOT prohibit a single dime from funding abortions.

Personhood FL Director Bryan Longworth remarks, "If Amendment 6 passes, it will do so because Floridians believe it actually prohibits taxpayer funding of abortion as proponents claim. Amending our constitution to protect every innocent human life is of paramount importance and should be done in a way that does not undermine the end result we seek, the legal protection of every human from conception to natural death."

Personhood FL is an issues only PAC working to pass the Florida ProLife Personhood Amendment which will give constitutional rights to all humans including the preborn, elderly, and disabled.
