STATEN ISLAND, Ny., May 21 /Christian Newswire/ -- There is no valid reason to oppose anti-coerced abortion legislation pending in the Ohio House say leaders of the Silent No More Awareness Campaign, the world's largest network of women and men harmed by abortion. The measure, expected to be voted upon by the House Health Committee today, would require an abortion clinic to post a sign stating that it is against the law for anyone to force a woman to have an abortion.
"Going through a voluntary abortion is horrific enough. We should do everything we can to insure that a woman is not being coerced into this life changing surgery by a boyfriend or abusive husband," said Georgette Forney, Co-Founder of the SNMAC. "Whether someone calls himself pro-choice or pro-life, there's simply no option but to support H.B. 280."
"The title of the bill says it all," added Janet Morana, another SNMAC Co-Founder. "Protecting pregnant women from coercion and violence should receive unanimous support from the Ohio legislature. There's no excuse for domestic violence and there's no excuse for opposing this woman-friendly legislation."
Since the launching of the Silent No More Awareness Campaign in 2003, 2,326 women and men have shared their testimonies publicly at over 200 gatherings in 44 states and six countries where more than 15,000 spectators have heard the truth about abortion's negative aftereffects. More than 4,100 people are registered to be Silent No More. Raising awareness about the hurtful aftermath of abortion and the help that is available to cope with the pain are two of the Campaign's goals.
