PAWLEYS ISLAND, South Carolina, Sept. 26 /Christian Newswire/ -- “A picture is worth a thousand words” is a famous proverb that refers to the idea that a complete story can be told through a single captured image.

Oaktreeidea.com (Christian social networking website) has launched a new feature called Photo Rocket News that asks aspiring photographers and photojournalists to post their pictures and file them within specific categories.

“For example, we had a brave young man post several pictures of his troop working hard for our country in Iraq. He added a small paragraph to introduce the pictorial story, but the photos definitely did the talking,” says Brady Stump, founder of Oaktreeidea.com. “This totally captures the spirit of the new Photo Rocket News section.”

Imagine combining CNN with a photo sharing site and you begin to understand the concept. Users compile a group of pictures that focus on a central theme and post them to the site, along with a small text introduction. Then other members of the site can view the pictorial story, post comments below the story, and even email the Photo Rocket News story to others.

Visitors can upload pictorial stories within one of several categories: Ministry, Music Scene, God’s Green Earth, My Life Today and Volunteering.

“We envision Photo Rocket News stories being filed from places like mission trips, political events, local volunteerism, concerts, youth festivals, war zones, college campuses, relief efforts, natural disaster areas and social outreach events. They can also be as simple as a book signing, Bible study or local church event,” adds Stump.

Oaktreeidea.com sees individuals, missionaries and churches using this tool to visually show the power of God's love and the dynamic work the church is performing in all corners of the world. Learn more about Photo Rocket News at www.oaktreeidea.com.
