CWA Applauds Senator Frist for His Years of Service to American Families

WASHINGTON, Nov. 29 /Christian Newswire/ -- Concerned Women for America (CWA) would like to publicly applaud Senator Bill Frist for his years of service in the United States Senate, especially his tenure as Republican Leader. As important as his gentlemanly leadership has been, what touched many was his noble work between Senate sessions, serving the poor on medical missions.

As the Senate Majority Leader, Frist faced a number of challenges from Democratic obstruction. Despite the frustrating gridlock, Senator Frist succeeded in shepherding two stellar Supreme Court nominees onto the Bench. Chief Justice John Roberts and Justice Samuel Alito are the kind of Justices that many in America worked hard to one day see on the Supreme Court.  We remain deeply grateful for Senator Frist's remarkable effort to lay the groundwork before and during their Senate nomination process.

Senator Frist's leadership aided multiple victories for American families during his tenure, a period of years marked by uniquely severe partisanship in Washington. With Senator Frist at the helm, Congress passed laws to substantially increase the fines for broadcast indecency, establish a national Cord Blood Bank, prohibit the horrific act of farming human fetuses, create a national sex offender registry, protect victims of the sex trafficking trade, and much more. We are especially grateful for his compassionate and diligent efforts, which gained unanimous support in the Senate, to try to keep a disabled woman from being cruelly starved to death.

We can only imagine how much better off America would be today if he had not faced such unforeseen partisan obstruction.

Senator Bill Frist has left his mark on our culture and American families are better for it.

The Majority Leader was an excellent role model in balancing his legislative responsibilities while making his faith and his family a priority. We know that Senator Frist looks forward to returning to Tennessee and spending more time with his wife and three sons. In or out of public life, we know that God has remarkable things in store for Senator Frist and his entire family. All of us at CWA send our very best wishes to the Frists as they depart Washington and move on to their next adventure.

It has been an honor to work with both the Majority Leader and his exceptional staff. While we will miss the professional relationships that we enjoyed with the Senator's office, we are confident that the Lord has great things in store for all of us, on and off the Hill, in the coming months and years.
