NASHVILLE, Aug. 19, 2011 /Christian Newswire/ -- NRB Network has announced that it will broadcast two primetime civil rights specials including the award-winning documentary Emancipation, Revelation, Revolution. The film, which looks at the history of civil rights in America and the role both major political parties played, will air Monday, August 22nd at 8 pm ET. The channel will also air a follow-up to the documentary entitled Reparations...Who Should Pay? at 8:30 pm ET. The programs will repeat at midnight and 12:30 am ET respectively and can be seen nationwide on DIRECTV channel 378, Sky Angel channel 126 or online at www.nrbnetwork.tv.

Emancipation, Revelation, Revolution reveals historical facts about Republican and Democratic influence in the civil rights movement that remain largely unknown by most Americans -- including people of color. The film explores why many conservative blacks are choosing to abandon the Democratic Party and the severe criticism they face as a result. Well-known conservative voices featured in the film include David Barton, Bishop Harry Jackson, Dr. Alveda King, Rev. Peter Marshall, Star Parker, Armstrong Williams and others.

Released in 2005, Emancipation, Revelation, Revolution was produced by Nina May and the Renaissance Foundation -- an organization founded by May to "encourage people to become leaders in their respective areas of influence and to challenge [them] to new standards of excellence and spiritual renewal." The film was awarded "Best Cutting Edge Film" at the 2006 NOIR Film Festival (now known as the San Diego Black Film Festival).

Reparations...Who Should Pay? was released in 2009 as a sequel to the original project. It examines American slavery and abolition and who should be responsible to pay reparations if it were enacted into law.

NRB Network President and CEO Troy A. Miller commended the programs. "Both documentaries are very well done. I think our viewers will appreciate the perspective the films present and walk away enlightened about the rich history of black Americans that is often overlooked," he said

The half-hour primetime specials air on Monday, August 22nd beginning at 8 pm ET and re-air for west coast viewers beginning at midnight. NRB Network is seen nationally on DIRECTV channel 378, Sky Angel channel 126 and can be streamed online at www.nrbnetwork.tv/watchonline.
