Andy Crouch, Sara Groves Leading Faith & Work Gathering
Contact: Cory Whitehead, Christianity Today, 630-260-6200 ext 4220

CAROL STREAM, Ill., April 24, 2014 /Christian Newswire/ -- Christianity Today and Leadership Journal have announced details for Redeeming Work: Twin Cities, the second of six events on the topics of vocation and calling. The gathering is June 12, 2014 at Art House North in St. Paul, MN, and features author and journalist Andy Crouch, singer/songwriter Sara Groves, and pastor and author Tom Nelson.

Skye Jethani, host of Redeeming Work, states, "Emerging adults have an increased focus on vocation for a sense of identity -- yet receive little guidance from the church to live their careers as callings. We hope to start a conversation that will resonate with pastors and result in more churches communicating that one's work can be a vital part of discipleship."

Redeeming Work will gather ministry leaders deeply invested in vocational discipleship. Andy Crouch, executive editor of Christianity Today and author of Playing God, will discuss how to redeem the gift of power and what this means for Christians trying to be culture-makers in the workplace. "For many Christians, work is the place where they most directly experience the greatest potential for true image bearing, and the greatest risk of idolatry. Pastors who learn how to shape the way people approach the joys and challenges of work have a huge opportunity to show how the gospel changes everything," Crouch says.

Pastor Tom Nelson, author of Work Matters, will discuss the theological application of vocational discipleship and how this has played out in his church community.

Singer/songwriter Sara Groves and her husband, Troy, opened Art House North, the event's venue, and will share how it has served as an important gathering place for artists looking to find a creative culture for the common good in their city. Groves will also lead worship.

Registration is now open for Redeeming Work: Twin Cities, and includes an early bird discount through May 1. For more information about Redeeming Work, visit LeadershipJournal.net/Live.
