ESCONDIDO, Calif., Nov. 23, 2011 /Christian Newswire/ -- Dr. Verna Linzey, renowned author and speaker, is thankful this Thanksgiving Season. She spoke during the 2011 National Bible Week at Westminster Seminary California on Monday 21, 2011. Concluding the event, Captain Ollis Mozon, CHC, USN, who is the Senior Chaplain at Marine Corp Base Camp Pendleton, presented the 2011 National Bible Teacher of the Year Award to Dr. Verna Linzey for Teaching the Word of God to the Nation with Excellence.

National Bible Week at Westminster Seminary was sponsored by Military Bible Association, founded by Dr. Linzey and her son, Chaplain Jim Linzey. They taught a leadership series on the 9 Leadership Traits at Bethel Baptist Church of Escondido, California. Dr. Linzey is the editor of The Women's Leadership Bible which includes the 9 Leadership Traits for Women and other leadership resources for women in leadership. This series will also be published in The Leader's Bible which uses the King James Version (2011) translated by Military Chaplains. This translation was featured at Westminster Seminary California during the ceremony by Dr. Ray Register, Emeritus, International Mission Board, Southern Baptist Convention, when he read the King James Version (2011) rendition of I Corinthians 13, known as "The Love Chapter."

Dr. Linzey is one of the founders and vice president of Military Bible Association. She has spoken at the Heritage Foundation for the 2011 Leadership Summit and was presented the Leader of the Year award by the chairman, William Owens. She teaches on her television programs entitled The Holy Spirit Today, and in her books which are sold around the world. For writing The Baptism with the Holy Spirit, which has been used in 100 Bible colleges, she was awarded the 2006 Best Non-fiction of the Year Award from the San Diego Christian Writers Guild. The foreword was written by Russell P. Spittler, Provost Emeritus of Fuller Theological Seminary. James Dunn, Allan Anderson, Vinson Synan, William Menzies, and other leading theologians wrote comments for Verna's book. Using academic resources, she explains that all Christians have received the Holy Spirit.

Dr. Linzey is a prolific author, evangelist, and a professional singer, songwriter, and recording artist, specializing in Southern Gospel and Country music. She starred in the movie Iniquity, based on the story of David and Bathsheba. Author of the hymn "Oh Blessed Jesus," she has sung on radio and television around the world.
