WASHINGTON, April 23 /Christian Newswire/ -- In response to ads launched by Nevada U.S. Senatorial candidate Danny Tarkanian challenging the pro-life record of former Nevada state senator Sue Lowden, Susan B. Anthony List President Marjorie Dannenfelser released the following statement:

"During the course of her campaign, Sue Lowden has consistently articulated her pro-life views and has promised to lead on those convictions in the U.S. Senate. This is the reason the SBA List Candidate Fund chose to endorse her.  Sue Lowden's story of conversion to the pro-life cause is not uncommon and should be celebrated.

"As a fellow female convert on the abortion issue, I challenge Mr. Tarkanian to believe in our cause enough to keep the door open for converts.  Speaking as a leader of the largest pro-life political organization in the nation, I respectfully request that Danny Tarkanian step back from this misinformation and take his ads off the air.  Such ads do nothing to further the cause of the unborn and women."

On Thursday, Tarkanian's campaign launched a radio campaign in Nevada claiming that Lowden is not pro-life.  Last year Sue Lowden released a statement explaining her conversion on the issue:  "My views on abortion have clearly changed over the decades and I have become pro-life which I believe is consistent with the path of many other individuals."

The ad does not mention Sue Lowden's pro-life record which spans back to her time as a Nevada state senator, where she championed a parental notification bill through committee to the floor of the Nevada State Senate.

Susan B. Anthony List Candidate Fund endorsements are promoted to the organization's nationwide membership of over 280,000 Americans.  During the 2008 election cycle, the Susan B. Anthony List Candidate Fund bundled over $1 million in direct candidate contributions from its members.
