Glessner, J.D., president of the National Institute of Family and Life Advocates (NIFLA), a network of more than 1,250 pro-life pregnancy resource centers and medical clinics, issued the following statement applauding the jury verdict in the Gosnell murder trial.
"We rejoice that justice has been served in the verdicts finding abortionist Kermit Gosnell guilty of three counts of first-degree murder. However, abortion continues to tear our nation apart. America must come to grips with this evil or lose its soul.
"Our fellow countrymen must ask what is the difference between snipping the spine and killing a baby after she is born and snipping the spine and killing a baby while she is still inside the womb? The first is now recognized First Degree Murder. The Second is called (by some) 'safe and legal abortion.'
"Since 1973 fifty-five million unborn children have suffered the same fate as the victims of Gosnell's serial killings and America pretends that these deaths have never happened.
