Christian Publishers Decline to Publish Book That Later Sells Around the World and Becomes a Textbook at Bible Colleges on Two Continents

Contact: Rev. Mel C. Montgomery, 417-438-1695

JOPLIN, Mo., May 2, 2012 /Christian Newswire/ -- Mel Montgomery's manuscript for "The Genuine Flow" was ignored or rejected by every major Charismatic Christian publisher. Undaunted, Mel self-published his book through Xulon Press. Then book distributors throughout the USA, Europe, Australia, Africa, and Asia added it to their catalogs. Mel promoted and offered "The Genuine Flow" through his website, www.brothermel.org. Now the manuscript that no major Charismatic Christian Publisher would touch has sold around the world and has recently been accepted for use as a textbook by Bible Colleges in Australia and the UK.

"To this day," Mel says, "I don't know why they rejected my manuscript. Truthfully, I don't think most even looked at it." Mel's manuscript was well-written and documented. It had every element that Christians and even many non-Christians find fascinating: biographical accounts of historic Charismatic figures, inside stories, first-hand accounts of miracles, and sound biblical instructions on how to experience the power of the Holy Spirit today. Dr. Ralph Wilkerson, founder of the historic Melodyland Christian Center, wrote the Foreword. Dr. Mark Roberts, Director of the Holy Spirit Research Center at ORU, gave the manuscript a positive review.

The book tells the inspiring story of the Rev. and Mrs. J. R. Goodwin, their teachings, accounts of the miracles they experienced, and their contacts with Smith Wigglesworth and other well-known Charismatic or Pentecostal leaders. Their ministry was one of the most miraculous and influential ministries of the Twentieth Century.

Concerning the rejections of his manuscript, Mel said, "I grew up in Wichita, KS. I talked with several men who had been offered the opportunity to invest in Pizza Hut when it was being started by the Carney brothers. These men told them, 'Nah! We're not interested. You can't make a living selling pizzas!' So when publishers told me, 'Nah!' I knew that I needed to bypass the power brokers, the sages, and the know-it-alls, and take my book directly to Christians myself. As a result, multitudes are being blessed by my book, my ministry is flourishing, and Christian Publishing houses can't understand why they are going broke and are being bought out by the world. I kept my faith in the God with whom all things are possible, and He made it happen."

"The Genuine Flow" is available through www.brothermel.org/genuine-flow. Mel Montgomery is available for interviews about Pentecostal history, and to speak at meetings and conferences.
