DENVER, June 25 /Christian Newswire/ -- The MOPS International Board announces a leadership transition with the resignation of Naomi Cramer Overton from the role of President.

During her three-year tenure at MOPS International, Overton has spearheaded ongoing efforts to ensure the ministry grew in relevancy and accessibility to moms in new generations. Under her leadership, MOPS did extensive research and listening to experts, to leaders, and to moms to continually adapt a proven ministry model to flexibly meet the current and future needs of moms, the church, and the broader culture. This legacy of listening and adapting has been incorporated into all levels of the organization and will carry MOPS forward in reaching the next generation of mothers of preschoolers.

"Naomi was a driving force for change at MOPS and has led the organization to a new and clearer understanding of how it can be relevant to current and new generations," said Valerie Bell, the Board Chair. "We deeply regret her resignation, but understand her wish to move toward the next step in her life. We wish her well. She will be missed."

As she steps down, Overton shares these thoughts, "This is a crucial time for families, and I'm so glad to have played my part in MOPS serving today's moms. As I go onto my next steps, I am cheering for the amazing board, staff and volunteers as they lead toward seeing no mom alone!"

The heart of the MOPS ministry is the grassroots involvement of leaders and the local community where moms gather together to encourage and support each other in the season of early mothering. A network of highly committed volunteer field leaders equips these local MOPS group leaders. The MOPS board and staff at MOPS International have reaffirmed their commitment to continue to support and equip local leaders and they know God will continue to work through all who are involved in the ministry to reach more moms in this generation and into the future.

Since 1973 Denver-based MOPS International, a non-profit ministry, has created communities and resources to help "Better Moms Make A Better World." A MOPS group is a place where moms can come -- just as they are -- to experience an authentic community of friendship, to receive practical mothering support, and to grow personally and spiritually. MOPS International serves 100,000 mothers of preschoolers in nearly 4,000 groups across the U.S. and in 32 countries worldwide. MOPS serves moms from all walks of life and exists to encourage, equip and develop every mother to realize her potential as a woman, mother and leader in the name of Jesus Christ.
