MANASSAS, Va., Sept. 8, 2011 /Christian Newswire/ -- The following is a statement from Richard A. Viguerie, Chairman of ConservativeHQ.com, regarding President Obama's speech to a joint session of Congress regarding employment:

"Congressional Republican Leaders alienated most Tea Party and grassroots conservatives when they made a debt ceiling deal with President Obama, instead of sticking with their own conservative allies to cut, cap, and balance the federal budget.

"Now, a little over a month after congressional Republicans made their deal with Obama, he suckered them into giving him a taxpayer financed re-election speech to announce a more than $400 billion stimulus plan, effectively reneging on the debt ceiling deal he made back in August.

"If there was ever proof that the Tea Party and conservatives were right about the debt ceiling deal and that making spending deals with Obama is folly, this is it.

"Tea Party and conservative activists are asking one question: Will congressional Republicans cave in to Obama's demands for more taxes and spending or will they redeem themselves partially by standing fast against another raid on the Treasury by Obama and his Big Labor allies?"
