OTTAWA, Ontario, May 27, 2011 /Christian Newswire/ -- Multi-talented, Two-time Stellar Award-winning artist, Music Conference Founder, Choir director, Studio owner, Producer and Minister of Music, Phillip Carter will appear in Canada in May 27 - 30 for the "Be the Gem" Tour. This is Mr. Carter's first visit to Canada although he has travelled all across the United States and Copenhagen, Denmark. A rapid rise to international acclaim followed his 2010 Stellar Award Win for Fan Favorite Choir of the Year for their album "Songs from the Storm" and the 2010 Stellar Award win as producer for Children's Performance of the Year, "Amazing" by Dr. Emory Andrews and the Oxon Hill High School Gospel Choir.

A young protégé, he began playing the piano at 18 months of age, and directing choirs when he was nine; earned a Bachelor of Science Degree in Music Education with a concentration in Piano and Minor in Voice from Bowie State University and served as the Director of the Bowie State University Gospel Choir and Assistant Director of the celebrated Howard University Gospel Choir. He has been a choral teacher as well as a mentor at Washington and Prince George's County public schools in Maryland, served as Music Director and Artistic Facilitator of the Choirs at the Washington Performing Arts Society for Gospel Programming and currently teaches Music and Computer Technology.

Phillip has performed with some of the most celebrated gospel artists, and now the door to Canada via Coppercoated Entertainment is open - allowing Mr. Carter to bring his expertise to Canada's Nation's Capital for a weekend of music, education, and ministry.
