Family Institute of Connecticut Action Committee Helps Win Pro-Family Victories in State Elections

MEDIA ADVISORY, Nov. 8 /Christian Newswire/ -- FIC Action Committee announced today that, despite the national trend, voters in Connecticut rebuffed anti-family legislative candidates and also overwhelmingly re-elected pro-family incumbents.

FIC Action Committee treasurer Brian S. Brown stated, "The 16th district provided the only open state senate seat where there was a clear pro-family candidate and a clear anti-family candidate. This was where we devoted much of our efforts and our newspaper op-eds, get out the vote campaign, volunteer and financial support, and targeted mailings helped make the difference. State Senator-elect Sam Caligiuri will be an outstanding pro-family legislator. The difference between his overwhelming victory in Waterbury and liberal Republican Nancy Johnson's trouncing in the Brass City should be a lesson for the Republican establishment: we need more Sam Caligiuri Republicans.

"We also helped Representative-elect Vincent Candelora defeat a Love Makes a Family-backed opponent and we helped to re-elect 39 pro-family incumbents. Only two of our endorsed incumbents lost and only one lost to a pro same-sex 'marriage' opponent. That the majority of our endorsed candidates won their races in the face of opposite trends on the national level is further evidence that Connecticut voters do not want their legislature to impose same-sex 'marriage.'"

"Building a pro-family base in our legislature that truly reflects voter sentiment will take time and effort. But Sam Caligiuri's victory and the victory of almost all our incumbents show that when pro-family citizens get active in the political process we can change the course of this state."
