A Human Rights Agenda for the Obama-Xi Bilateral Meeting

WASHINGTON, March 29, 2016 /Christian Newswire/ -- Members of Congress and prominent human rights advocates will discuss topics for the upcoming bilateral meeting between President Obama and President Xi Jinping, scheduled for sidelines of the Nuclear Security Summit next week, March 31-April 1, 2016.  

Under President Xi, there has been an extraordinary assault on rule of law and civil society in China.  The imprisonment and torture of rights advocates, the use of torture in detention, and new efforts to further restrict the freedoms of speech, association, and religion are issues that need to be addressed at the highest levels of bilateral interaction.
