Pope Asked to Review Confidential Priest Files to L. A. County District Attorney

LOS ANGELES, April 16 /Christian Newswire/ -- The following press statement is issued by Alex Jacinto:

We are today announcing the formation of an ad hoc committee calling ourselves Catholic Democrats Pro-Life.

We as Catholics and democrats want our cardinal values to be taken into consideration and therefore are requesting that the 2008 Democratic National Platform include language that calls for the elimination of late term abortion.

Incidentally we would ask the same question of the two Democratic Presidential candidates.
We would also like to welcome his Holiness Pope Benedict16th to the United States, and wish him a belated happy birthday and re-invite him to participate in the annual procession of Our Lady of Guadalupe in Los Angeles, California this coming December.

The one additional matter we would ask, is that the Pope review with Cardinal Mahoney the reason for not having turned over the confidential files of priests accused of sexual molestation, to Los Angeles County District Attorney Steve Cooley, as ordered by the United States Supreme Court in March of 2007.

Please forgive my impudence for such a request, as I realize that you are shamed by this entire conduct by certain priests.

I am reminded of Christ's response to the Pharisees, "to render unto God that which is God's and to render unto Ceasar that which is Ceasar's."

In this case Cardinal Mahoney must render onto Cooley that which is Cooley's.
