INDIANAPOLIS, March 20, 2019 /Christian Newswire/ -- Notre Dame's pro-life supporters are taking a stand for life this week on campus, hosting an unprecedented event at 7 p.m. Thursday, March 21 at the Browning Cinema at the prestigious DeBartolo Performing Arts Center: an UNPLANNED movie conversation with Abby Johnson, a former Planned Parenthood director whose true story is depicted in the movie; Chuck Konzelman, the co-director and screenwriter of the movie — he's also a Notre Dame grad (Class of 1982) — Cary Solomon, who also is a co-director and screenwriter of the movie, and Mary FioRito, Cardinal George Fellow at the de Nicola Center for Ethics and Culture.

The discussion will be moderated by Carter Snead, the William P. and Hazel B. White Director of the de Nicola Center for Ethics and Culture, Professor of Law in the Law School, and Concurrent Professor of Political Science at the University of Notre Dame. It also will be interspersed with highlights from UNPLANNED, which will be released in theaters nationwide Friday, March 29.

UNPLANNED recently garnered headlines nationwide after the MPAA slapped the movie with an R rating for "some distributing/bloody images" pertaining to abortion scenes in the film.

"We consider the MPAA's current standards to be deeply flawed, insofar as they allow scenes of remarkably graphic sex, violence, degradation, murder and mayhem to have a PG-13 rating, whereas our film, highlighting the grave dangers of abortion in a straightforward manner, is considered dangerous for the American people to view," wrote Solomon and Konzelman.

UNPLANNED is the inspiring true story of one woman's journey of transformation. All Johnson ever wanted to do was help women. As one of the youngest Planned Parenthood clinic directors in the nation, she was involved in upwards of 22,000 abortions and counseled countless women about their reproductive choices. Until the day she saw something that changed everything. For more information about the movie, please see www.unplannedfilm.com.
