International Olympic Committee OKs the Persecution of Christians While Giving Homosexuals and Transgenders a Pass

MADISON, Wisc., Dec. 22, 2014 /Christian Newswire/ -- Within the last few weeks, the International Olympic Committee (IOC) passed a non-discrimination policy for LGBT individuals, however, the IOC allows their events to take place in countries that persecute Christians.

The IOC allowed the Olympics to be in China in 2008 where an estimated 110 million Christians are underground because of persecution.

Also, the International Association of Athletics Federations (IAAF), an arm of the IOC, will allow the 2019 World Track and Field Championships to be in Qatar, where Christian converts could face the death penalty. Also, the 2015 World Track and Field Championships will be in Beijing, China.

"The IOC is hypocritical for allowing events in countries that hate Christians," states 4 WINDS President Steve McConkey. "If you are a true Christian in China and Qatar, you face persecution. It is perplexing on how they can justify this when you look at the facts. So the IOC ignores Christians facing persecution, but endorses homosexuality."

In 2003, Steve McConkey fought the International Olympic Committee for allowing transgenders in the Olympics. Then in 2013, he stood against the United States Olympic Committee after being the first country to pass LGBT non-discrimination policies before the 2014 Winter Olympics in Sochi, Russia. Steve believes Christians will face discrimination if they believe homosexuality is a sin.

After the IOC's 2003 transgender policy, thirty-three state high school associations now allow transgenders in sports. This month, Minnesota became the thirty-third state.

Steve also believes that the athletes training for the Olympics should not get involved in the conflict, but spend their time in training and growing in their faith if they are Christians. Also, he does not believe in Olympic or athletic boycotts.

Steve McConkey is the President of 4 WINDS. Steve and his wife started working in world-class track and field ministries in 1981. 4 WINDS was formed in 1988 and expanded to all sports in 2014.
