CHESAPEAKE, Virginia, Mar. 8 /Christian Newswire/ -- Following in the footsteps of the 35 U.S. Senators who wrote, signed and sent a Pro-Life re-affirmation letter to the White House urging the President to stand firm against a pro-abortion Congress that is trying to weaken his commitment to the unborn, Grassfire.org has drafted a similar letter so Pro-Life citizens can send a “stand firm” message to the George Bush. “The Pelosi-led Congress has an anti-life agenda that is being sold to our nation,” says Grassfire President Steve Elliott. “To counter this destructive push, we wanted to give the Pro-Life voice a megaphone that resonates above their rhetoric, and this letter can do that.”

After launching the initiative late last week with a lofty goal of 25,000 signatures, the campaign has already rallied more than 27,000 Pro-Life citizens, with hundreds more signing each hour. “From the turnout we are seeing, it is obvious this letter has touched a nerve with Pro-Life citizens who are eager to send a message to the President.”

Grassfire will be delivering the letters to Capitol Hill early next week, and Elliott says it’s quite possible 35,000 to 40,000 letters will be delivered by that time. “The rights of the unborn are supremely important to the American people, and they aren’t going to stand silent while this Congress callously attempts to cast them aside. This letter is a strong response.”

In addition to the re-affirmation letter to the President, Grassfire’s national “Petition
For Life” petition has rallied more than 529,000 citizens.
